North Korea continues its pursuit of Nuclear Weapons

This situation with North Korea continues to be alarming with recent intelligence reports indicating the North Koreans are developing underwater nuclear mines and torpedoes to neutralize any threat from Japanese and South Korean naval bases and American aircraft carriers.  This development should not surprise anyone as all of this is being done with the blessing of the Chinese government.  What other country in this region can China rely on to “stick it in the eye” of the United States and its allies, none because there are no other countries in this region what want to side with China because of possible Chinese hegemony in the region.

North Korea is a dirt poor country but has all this money to develop nuclear weapons? They get help from China so we have a situation here that shows what happens when you don’t finish the job such as the Korean war.  I know hindsight is 20/20 but if North Korea was defeated when they were on the ropes and China was a third-rate power at the time there would not be this problem today.  Now that China has the 2nd largest economy and developing it military that matter is that much more complicated in putting North Korea in its place.  With that being said I have several options that I will list that should be considered for putting North Korea in its place.

1)Tell North Korea and China that the gloves will come off and Japan, South Korea , Taiwan and even Vietnam will be allowed to develop their own nuclear weapons and there can be and old-fashioned arms race in the region to restore the balance of power.

2)Once the arms race has started no further “gifts” will be given to North Korea if they behave.  The only gift they will given is American military buildup in the region to go along with a nuclear armed Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.

3)While I am not an expert at economics what if the U.S. tells China if the don’t reign in the North Koreans then this country will default on the money they have loaned us.  Then the U.S. can be like these other third world countries and go to the IMF and World Bank for loans.  This country buys all that crap made in China that is either junk or making everyone sick so they need us more than we need them.

This is nothing more than the age-old situation of the “bully” thinking he is tougher than anyone else on the block and until someone stands up and knocks him down the bully will continue and this is what needs to happen with North Korea, the bully needs to be knocked down!

Chinese Missile fired off the U.S. west coast

There has been considerable debate over the last few weeks as to the origin of the “con trail” that was witnessed over the west coast of the United States.  We have been lead to believe by officials this was from an airplane but was not a missile from our military or any other military.  I for one am not an aviation expert, but I have seen con-trail ‘s  in the sky and this does not look like an airplane con trail.  It reminds of a con trail of a solid fuel rocket similar to what we see when the Space Shuttle is launched.

There has been speculation this was a missile fired from a Chinese submarine and my gut tells me this is probably correct and here is why I believe this.  China just had the run in with Japan about fishing rights and Japan holding a Chinese boat captain because of this incident.  The issue was finally resolved but it was seen as a Chinese victory in the matter.  China wants to exert its influence in the South China Sea which is worrisome to Japan, South Korea and Vietnam.  Also, the incident with North Korea shelling a South Korean Island was not done without prior approval from the Chinese Government as North Korea does not do anything without the approval of China.  Finally, I believe China will try to make a move on Taiwan as they believe this is a runaway province and want it back.

Therefore, this missile shot was a warning to the United States of Chinese power and to not interfere in the region.  In another era this country may have taken a quid pro quo response and retaliated with similar action.   In order to return stability to the region let Japan and South Korea get their own nuclear weapons and return a balance of power to the region. It may come to this because of the U.S. out of control spending over the last 30 years and China holds our debt  and appear to be in a position to dictate terms to the United States. I mean this is a simple concept; China holds all the money so they get to make all the rules just like in the game of Monopoly as the goal is to acquire the most money and win the game not accumulate the most debt because that means you go broke and lose and that is where the United States is headed. We will let them be number one!

Well it has finally happened!! It has been reported that China has recently passed the United States as the leader in world energy consumption.   I have linked to a detailed article on this but wanted to add a few comments of my own and the possible double standard that may apply here in regard to the United States.  There is a quote from the article that says the following:  “Some environmentalists are cautiously optimistic about what China’s new status could mean for the planet, pointing out that it has spearheaded research and development into renewable energy. The IEA’s chief economist, Fatih Birol, said China is the world’s leader in wind and solar power.”  Are you kidding me!!  Correct me if I am wrong but the United States is doing more that any country to try to curb our pollution and in the process of reducing our consumption of fossil fuels which would be good for the planet.

However, China is the number one polluter of this planet and I for one want to know if the “environmentalists” are protesting the Chinese Government!! Are they stopping the Chinese from logging, fishing, drilling for oil or searching for other fossil fuels still needed at this time to run this country?   I can answer my own question and the answer is no!!   China is run by communists so in this society dissent is not tolerated because if the environmentalists go to China and do the things they do in the United States they would be arrested and possibly executed for subversion of the communist rule!

I am a big supporter of people and groups being allowed to protest their government, but I think some of the things these environmentalists have done to shut down production of jobs in this country is ridiculous.  Since China is the number one polluter and now the largest energy consumer these people can no longer hang their hat on the Unites States being solely responsible for polluting and using all the energy in the world.  I say to them “take your show to China if you are serious about these issues and then I will have more respect for your cause.”
